that you have 22 bones in your skull; 8 pairs and 6 singles?
I am one.
Well, in all seriousness... dA isn't quite what I'm after right now. I've thought about it for a while, and right now getting better at art is top priority. dA doesn't give me that. Granted, there are some people who go a long way to give critique (

and

comes to mind), and I DO appreciate that, but this is more of an... art club than an art school. More of a café-chat than an art community.
Don't get me wrong, though, I like dA alot, but right now it doesn't really give me what I want. What I want is progress.
People who know the difference between Monet and Manet, and buys anatomy books for medicine students just to find out where the serratus magnus connects. People who stays up 'till four in the morning to finish off a drawing they started on, even though they have work the next day. Someone who lights up when you mention tonalists, and knows which artist anatomy books will help you.
People who can tell you what's wrong, no matter how blunt. People who comment because they want to, not because they have to. People who admire artist who have skill and originality, not because they draw their favourite fandom. People who want critique. DEMAND critique.
I want a community that pushes me. That encourages me. I know I can get that here, too, if I ask you to do it. But I don't have to ask on ConceptArt. It's the norm. It's what's expected. You're expected to bust your ass off. You're expected to stand your ground and take it when members tells you how much work your skills need.
You're expected to get better. Demanded to get better.
Right now, all dA demands is attention. Attention that takes focus away from what is important to me; being able to live off of art one day.
I'm not going "WAAH WAAH LEAVING dA FOREVAAAAAAAR". I'm going "brb, guys. Going to cook me some future".
Yours truly,
~Kanna~
NB:
If you feel the same, I urge you to join Conceptart. You won't be disappointed. Throw me a note when you're there, too. My name is Monkeydominator. I'll make sure to follow and critique you.

"Its so obvious that its painful, but here it goes.
THE SECRET TO DRAWING IS TO DRAW!"
Conceptart's own Slash, on the secret of drawing.
Was thinking I should tell you, since it might get lost among the other deviations in your inbox, and you've been really bugging me for it
Sorry it took so long, but I was really struggling with some details I couldn't get done, so now I've just given up and started posting it
